FINAL LIST (more or less) UPDATED LATE TUESDAY

Our effort has not been as successful as we’d have wished.  Very few people contacted us to provide information about progressive candidates running in their communities.  As a result, we have reasonably comprehensive information for Regina, less comprehensive information for Saskatoon, a couple of names for Moose Jaw and pretty much nothing everywhere else.

PLEASE!!! IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON OTHER PROGRESSIVE CANDIDATES IN ANY SASKATCHEWAN MUNICIPALITY, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP!!!

Based on the information we have to date, here is a consolidated list.  However, if more information is received in the next 24 hours, we will happily update the … Continue Reading

Don Wren For Trustee, Regina Public Subdivision 6

From the Regina Leader Post
While Wren lives in Subdivision 7, his young children attend school in Subdivision 6 and he has many ties to the area.

Having run before will help this time, he said. Wren, a writer, has four degrees and two certificates. His background includes military and union executive service and work within the public division as a community school co-ordinator.

“Having seen the inside and how the system works, I think I might be able to work to make some of the changes I think we need made,” Wren said, noting he has three primary areas of concern.

Pat Fiacco Ducking Debates?

This just in – and not yet confirmed.  (NOW CONFIRMED BY CBC)

Apparently at least one community association has attempted to organize a mayoral debate in Regina – only to have the incumbent and presumptive frontrunner flat out refuse to participate.  It seems the only mayoral debate that will be happening will be in front of the largely pro-Fiacco Chamber of Commerce – with a $45 price of admission.

This is, of course, the classic front runner strategy.  Pat Fiacco has nothing to gain from debates which will give any sort of profile to his opponents – activist Jim Elliott … Continue Reading

Former Mayor Don Mitchell running for Moose Jaw Council

From Facebook:
On Oct. 28th I’m seeking election to be a councillor in the city of Moose Jaw. A year ago I was a federal candidate in Palliser Riding and worked hard to present progressive choices. We finished a strong second to the Conservatives, who swept Saskatchewan. The issues I emphasized in that election were; – energy choices and environmental sustainability, health care, social housing, regional economic development, food and agriculture and support for municipal infrastructure. Today I’m interested in these same issues. I’m committed to working at the community level to initiate real improvements with lasting impact.

I care a lot … Continue Reading
